Via Pribina launches environmental innovation contest
- On the occasion of VINCI Environment Day, Via Pribina launches a contest seeking creative solutions for more sustainable road mobility
- Winning ideas will be considered for pilot projects on the expressway
- Via Pribina takes action to decarbonize the expressway with already minus 40% emissions since 2018
Via Pribina, concessionaire of the 52km expressway from Nitra to Tekovské Nemce, launches an environmental innovation contest ´INOVATOR1´ to further increase the development of sustainable solutions on the expressway.
Open to startups, universities, commercial companies or individuals, the contest starts today and the winners are expected to be announced in spring 2024.
The objective is to implement new ideas aiming to decarbonize road mobility in various fields, including but not limited to higway operations and maintenance, rest areas and digitalization of highway processes.
Entrants can submit their innovative project proposals through the competition’s dedicated website: https://viapribina.sk/sk/sutaz-inovator1/ by 10th December 2023.
An expert jury, consisting of professionals from Via Pribina, Via Pribina Operations, and its shareholders, VINCI Highways and Meridiam will select the most promising projects based on their merits and feasibility with the goal to implement it on the expressway.

Via Pribina expressway has two shareholders, VINCI Highways and Meridiam, while the operation and maintenance is carried out by company Via Pribina Operations, is fully under the ownership of VINCI Highways.
About Via Pribina
The concessionaire and operator, Via Pribina and Via Pribina Operations oversee the concession, operation and maintenance of the 52km R1 Via Pribina expressway. The first section Nitra – Tekovské Nemce was opened in October 2011. The second section, 5.6 km long, is the northern bypass of Banská Bystrica, which has been accessible to drivers since June 2012.
